How Ford/UAW votes are counted

I've been getting this question a lot:

"Does anyone know what happens if some of the Ford plants have workers who pass the contract, while others reject it? Will it be honored only on a plant-by-plant basis, or does it have to be company-wide?"

And here's the answer after I consulted with Local 862 President Rocky Comito:

Like most elections, the UAW election counts all the votes of its 41,000 Ford members, and a simple majority wins. So, even though 92% of the Kansas City workers voted "no," if the majority of all Ford UAW members nationally vote "yes," the KC workers are bound by the same contract.

Ford, however, is undoubtedly keeping track of how individual plants are voting.
