The interview had already stirred a mini-controversy when Grayson said that opponent Rand Paul was "not a Kentuckian." See the "not a Kentuckian" sound bite here. Meanwhile, the Paul campaign has been trying to paint Grayson as not a true conservative, a charge Grayson countered in the WYMT interview. "I'm a conservative, and I'm going to vote that way," Grayson said, "But I'm not going to let that stand in the way of speaking my mind and standing up to party leaders when they're wrong." According to WYMT's Angela Beavin Grayson also stressed financial responsibility, concern about the permitting process in Kentucky's coal industry, an oppostion to the cap and trade bill, and is dubious about health care reform efforts in Washington. "Why would you pass a bill, just for the sake of passing a bill; that increases premiums and has that great of a cost?" Grayson said in the interview, adding that he suggests allowing the purchase of insurance policies across state lines and malpractice reform. 1 CommentsLeave a comment |
