With Kelly Downard out of the mayor's race, Republicans are anxious to hear who might step in. Steve Pence continues to be the dream candidate of many GOP'ers, but he's on vacation, so no word today from him.

Here's the Downard release:

Louisville, KY: Metro Councilman Kelly Downard (District 16) has decided against a run for the position of Louisville Metro Mayor in 2010. Councilman Downard, who has served on the Metro Counci...

Casting a Paul over Kentucky

Joe Arnold

It's a big IF. IF Rand Paul can mimic the fundraising success of his father, former presidential candidate Ron Paul, via online "moneybombs." He could launch a viable candidacy for U.S. Senate. Other than the name and the supporters it brings with it, it's doubtful the Bowling Green opthamologist would have a prayer.

Thanks to Sam Edelen for sending me this link to his Kentucky Gazette artic...

"I'm disappointed that Louisville did not receive any funding from this particular program. However, we did receive more than $5 million in federal funding from the Justice Assistance Grant program earlier this year to strengthen our police force, and I will continue to fight to secure all the resources that law enforcement needs to keep our families safe."

"Kentucky has been blessed to have Jim Bunning as one of our United States Senators and as a Member of the House of Representatives before that. Senator Bunning has served Kentucky honorably, has always dedicated himself to what's best for Kentucky and our country, and has been one of the most fiscally responsible elected officials - a rarity in Washington. I will soon transition my exploratory committee to an official campaign committee, bu...
