Congressman John Yarmuth may love the new President-elect, but he's not a big fan of Barack Obama's Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel. Speaking on the "Francene Show" on WHAS Radio this morning, Yarmuth recounted how he and Emanuel had it out during the 2006 election cycle. Emanuel was the head of the DCCC and was recruiting Iraq war veteran Andrew Horne to run against Congresswoman Anne Northup. When Yarmuth decided to jump into the 3rd District race, Emanuel was ticked off and tried to talk Yarmuth out of it, believing that Horne was the better candidate. Yarmuth says he didn't get any financial help from the DCCC until the last week of the fall campaign when it was clear he had a good shot at beating the 5 term incumbent, Northup. Yarmuth joked with Francene that after he won, "Emanuel and I became best friends and he took all the credit for my win." 2 CommentsLeave a comment |

I remember a DCCC fundraising call I got in 2006. I told the caller that I wouldn't donate to the DCCC until they realized that KY-3 was a winnable district for the Dems.
They were looking at the '04 results (Anne's win against the horrible Tony Miller) and figured it wasn't worth the effort.
I thought that KY-3 was more winnable in 2006 than KY-2 was this year and look how much they poured into that race!
Rahm Emanual is not a far left liberal. He learned from the best during his 1992 presidential campaign and administration...Bill Clinton. He knows that to be an effective at the art of governing, you must govern from the center, not the margins.
I must say I was a little shocked to see Obama pick him as the chief of staff. Probably will not be the last time liberals ae shocked with the Obama administration.
