McConnell's Lead Shrinks to 3 Over Lunsford

It looks like the fragile economy and government bailouts of Wall St. firms is hurting incumbent Senator Mitch McConnell in his reelection campaign. The new Survey USA/WHAS 11 poll shows McConnell's lead over Bruce Lunsford has been cut to just three points in the past month. The poll shows McConnell leading 49%-46%. McConnell held a 12 point lead over Lunsford a month ago.

The poll shows 6 out of 10 Kentucky voters rate the economy the top issue for the next president. And that's killing McConnell. Among voters focused on the economy, Lunsford has a 9 point edge. A month ago, McConnell led by 6. That's a 15 point swing. The poll shows McConnell is leading Lunsford in three of the four areas of the state....all except the Louisville area which includes 16 counties.

The poll contains some other bad news for McConnell. The same group of likely voters give McConnell's fellow republican, John McCain a 19 point lead over Barack Obama. That's up one point from a month ago. So the poll shows voters are willing to split their ballot, voting for McCain at the top, but not McConnell in the same numbers. It also appears that McConnell is getting blamed for the economy's troubles, while McCain is not.

If Bruce Lunsford comes out against this Wallstreet bailout, I guarantee he will beat Sen. Mcconnell by 20% in Nov. Mcconnell has already made his position known and you can only wonder why? He is putting the "sky will fall" scenario in front of us and it just don't FLY. New financial institutions will form and take care of our financial needs in a more responsible way. The cost of the mortgages will come down to a level that people will be actually able to afford their homes. We can't reward the evildoers and punish the innocent. That is what this bailout does. Please Bruce....Do the right thing!
