GOP Convention: What was ABC Thinking?

Inexplicably, ABC News cut away from Sen. Joe Lieberman's keynote slot address at the Republican National Convention to talk about Lieberman and McCain, instead. I watched the speech on a direct feed from the convention, but am extremely curious how the network will defend cutting away from what was incredible political theatre.

This was history. The Democrats' Vice-Presidential candidate with Al Gore, just eight years removed from the cheering crowds at the Democratic National Convention, took the stage at the Republican National Convention to endorse the GOP nominee.

Yes, the RNC had released an advance copy of Lieberman's speech, and ABC may have aired a few minutes of what they thought was the most relevant. But, don't ABC's viewers deserve the opportunity to hear it and decide for themselves?

What do you think?
