| Lawson and Co. Have Given $473K To Kentucky Politicians »
Governor Steve Beshear says he met with the F.B.I. to answer questions about their investigation of corruption in the Transportation Cabinet. Beshear says he offered little new information to the investigators, who are focusing their probe on former Transportation Secretary Bill Nighbert and big time road contractor Leonard Lawson. Beshear also says, while running for governor, he met with Lawson and asked him to support the Beshear for Governor campaign. Records show no evidence of any campaign contributions from Lawson to Beshear and Beshear says the eastern Kentucky highway contractor never asked for any state contracts in return for a campaign contributions. Lawson and his wife did give to Ernie Fletcher in 2006. |
