Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson says he's "not aware" of any discussions between anyone on his staff and the governor's office about the timing of Irv Maze's appointment to circuit judge. That timing allowed Abramson to appoint a new County Attorney who could avoid an election race this fall. Former judge and assistant County Attorney Michael O'Connell is Abramson's choice as the new County Attorney. Because his appointment comes two days after the filing deadline for the fall election, O'Connell avoids an election fight this year and gets to serve out the remainder of Irv Maze's term, which expires in 2010. That was all made possible by Governor Beshear waiting to appoint Maze to a 2-month-old vacant judgeship until after the filing deadline. But Abramson claims, to his knowledge, there was no conspiracy between he and Beshear to orchestrate the appointments so O'Connell could duck an election fight in November. The head of the Jefferson County Republican Party isn't buying it, claiming local voters are getting the shaft with no chance to consider a republican candidate for County Attorney this fall. 2 CommentsLeave a comment |

Yep and the tooth fairy is real. This is the same behavior he has used for his entire career as Mayor. Political appointees run rampant in this administration and always have. This is part of the problem with Metro Government.
Unchecked power.
Abramson needs to go.
All I can say is: *AHEM*
