The wife of republican Congressman Ed Whitfield is out as head of the Equine Drug Research Council. That's the group that's looking at steroids and other issues in Kentucky horse racing:

Governor Beshear Names Chair of Equine Drug Research Council

FRANKFORT, KY (July 9, 2008) - Governor Steve Beshear today named Dr. Jerry Yon of Lexington to chair the Equine Drug Research Council (EDRC), representing the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission (KHRC). The Council provides recommendations to the KHRC on horse racing medication issues. Dr. Yon replaces Connie Whitfield, of Hopkinsville, who was not re-appointed to the Racing Commission. He will serve the remainder of the unexpired term ending Aug. 1, 2008.

"Dr. Yon is committed to working toward improving the way we regulate the horse racing industry in Kentucky. As chair, I am confident he will provide the leadership necessary for the Council to make recommendations to the Commission to accomplish those goals," said Gov. Beshear.

The Council has committees already looking into several industry issues including the use of anabolic steroids, necropsies and out-of-competition testing. The Kentucky Horse Racing Commission will meet Monday, July 14 at 1:00 p.m. at The Kentucky Horse Park.

What happened to the "I don't care if its a Republican, a Democrat or an Independent idea..."

Oh yea, that's right it was campaign BS. I guess the current administration is hoping the public has short term memory loss.
