Nighbert Leaves Senate Job

6:16 PM Mon, Jul 21, 2008 |

Bill Nighbert has left his job with Senate President David Williams. The former state Transportation Secretary served as a $70,000/yr. consultant with the republican senate leadership. Nighbert's job switch comes as a federal grand jury is looking at possible corruption during Nighbert's tenure as Transportation Secretary. One could reasonably wonder if Nighbert or Williams is worried that Nighbert might soon be facing criminal charges and wanted to be as far away from the senate president as possible.

David Williams had to get Nighbert out the door before the stench of a federal indictment infiltrated his office.

As a 20 year veteran of Transportation I can say I saw more blatant corruption and illegal activities in Fletcher’s 4 years than I saw in the other administrations I served under. The sad thing is that the ring leaders of the last 2 Administrations (Patton & Fletcher) have retired and been hired back into their old positions in Transportation and are continuing to carry the Fletcher Banner. Governor Beshear will have to really clean out Transportation soon since his new Secretary still hasn't grasped the concept of the job and follows the path of the Fletcher holdovers blindly and without question.
