The Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement agency will soon be governed by the Kentucky State Police under a reorganization plan that's expected to be unveiled next week. That's what sources are telling me.
The KVE is currently a semi-autonomous agency in the Justice Cabinet. It's main function is to regulate truck traffic in the state of Kentucky. But when KVE Commissioner Greg Howard quit last month and a couple other high ranking KVE officers decided to retire, Kentucky Justice Secretary J. Michael Brown told me the agency had been left with a leadership vacuum and he was trying to decide what direction it should go. That was two weeks ago when I asked Brown about rumors that Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement might become part of the State Police.
Vehicle Enforcement has been a part of the Transportation Cabinet, Justice Cabinet and State Police in recent years as various governors have tried to find a natural home for the law enforcement and vehicle regulation agency.

Greg Howard did not quit, he was fired. Being the great guy he was, he graciously turned KVE over to KSP. If Greg Howard can't have KVE nobody else can. Thanks Greg Howard for your commitment to destroy an agency for your own personal vendetta. The worst thing to ever happen to KVE was allowing him to become commissioner. Look at who appointed him.
