A Lexington attorney is claiming in a court action that Kentucky's public defender system failed to provide counsel for a juvenile. Democratic senatorial candidate Bruce Lunsford finally countered Sen. Mitch McConnell's TV ad which blames Lunsford for rising gas taxes and $4/gallon gas. Lunsford told reporters today that "there's no question Mitch McConnell thinks Kentuckians are stupid" if he thinks they believe the claims in his ad. Lunsford also called McConnell's ad "propaganda" and laid out his 8 point energy plan, including a "gas tax holiday" which his party's pre... WHAS 11 News has learned that the number two state regulator of Kentucky nursing homes was fired in May for having an improper relationship with a northern Kentucky nursing home operator. Moses Young lives in a home, perhaps rent free, that is owned by the owner of the Garrard Convalescent Home in Covington. Young also made hundreds of calls from his state cell phone to Ralph Stacey Jr., many of them on the same days the state received compl... Governor Steve Beshear got a big crowd to his first town hall meeting in Pikeville tonight. Apparently he promised to give the city of Virgie a casino license if its residents would show up. And this time it was the Fletcher administration that did the illegal firing of a military man. ...Governor Steve Beshear says he's pushing his cabinet secretaries to identify as many employees as possible to put on 4 day work weeks as a way to help those state workers save on gas costs. ...Kentucky has reached an agreement with the federal government to provide more services for hundreds of Kentuckians with mental retardation who are on the "waiting list" for homes in the community. What's not clear is the total cost of the plan and where Kentucky will come up with the cash.
