I thought we had a primary election to determine how many delegates Obama or Hillary get from Kentucky. Guess not. It's that wacky democratic party caucus thing going on this Saturday across Kentucky. Thom Karmik of KDP says "In our never-ending, crazy devotion to accuracy: the allocation of delegates was determined by the primary. This Saturday the actual delegates will be chosen in proportion to that allocation. So yes, we have already determined how many delegates each candidate receives, now we elect the actual delegates". Subject: Attend Your County/Legislative District Caucus this Saturday, May 31 This Saturday, May 31, is your opportunity to participate in the process that helps choose the delegation the Kentucky Democratic Party sends to the Democratic National Convention in Denver, August 25-28. In this exciting Presidential year, what better way to show your enthusiasm and commitment to our Presidential candidates than by participating in your County/Legislative District Caucus? This Saturday, any registered Democrat can attend a Caucus in their County (or Legislative District if you live in Jefferson County or Fayette County.) Caucuses start at 10:00 a.m. sharp, at a location determined by your County Democratic Party Chair. Democrats sign in and pledge to support the candidate of their choice (either Sen. Clinton or Sen. Obama) and then elect an apportioned number of delegates and alternates to the June 7th Congressional District Caucus. At the June 7th Caucus, held during the morning of the KDP State Convention, those Delegates chosen on May 31 will gather by Congressional District and choose the delegates to send to the National Convention in Denver. The process is simple, and ANY Democrat can participate. Below are some helpful links to guide you, and we encourage all Democrats to come out this Saturday and make your voice heard. Sincerely, Jennifer A. Moore What:: Kentucky Democratic Party County/Legislative District Caucus For more information about the County/Legislative District Caucus process, please contact the Kentucky Democratic Party Headquarters at 502-695-4828. 1 CommentsLeave a comment |

Dude!
The NUMBER of delegates has been set. Maybe Republicans don't want to go to the GOP Convention this year, but we Dems have a plethora of people who want to be Denver-bound. The caucus on Saturday will elect the people who get to vote at the congressional caucus next weekend, when the actual selection of delegates to Denver happens.
