It's the biggest crowd I've seen at a political event in Kentucky since 1996, when Bill Clinton held a huge rally on Main St. in Louisville. Nearly 10,000 people jammed into the Louisville International Convention Center tonight to see the man who will likely be the democratic nominee for president. According to Renee Murphy's story, several people were turned away at the door as the fire marshal may have gotten a little antsy about the overflow crowd. I was at the center until 6:15 p.m. and it appeared that the crowd was about half white, half black, with a big number of kids. One parent told me she brought her kids to see the a guy they've taken an interest in, and the next president of the United States. The crowd may have been larger than any Clinton ever had with the possible exception of the 1992 election eve stops at airports when it became clear that he was going to be the next president of the United States. The fervor of those crowds is similar to what you can feel from the folks who lined up for hours to see Obama tonight. 1 CommentsLeave a comment |
