Northup Accused of Being In "Big Oil's" Back Pocket

I was wondering if one of her opponents in the republican primary would pounce on this or save it for John Yarmuth......apparently Chris Thieneman has decided to try and let voters hear about the contributions Anne Northup received from oil company PACS and their executives when she was in Congress. Here's Thieneman's release:

THIENEMAN: NORTHUP IS A FRIEND OF BIG OIL

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - In her latest TV commercial, Anne Northup claims she'll come up with a solution for the oil crisis, but anyone who knows her record knows she'll be marching in lock-step with the big oil companies. Time and again, Northup proved during her time in Congress that she was willing to do whatever it took to keep lobbyists from Big Oil happy.

She voted with President Bush 91 percent of the time.

As a member of Congress in 2005, she voted for a $14.5 billion tax break for Big Oil (H.R. 6, Vote 445), passing President Bush's energy bill that amounted to a giant hand-out for oil companies.

She helped her pals in the oil companies again later that year, voting against price gouging standards that would have prevented big oil from over-charging us for gasoline. (H.R. 3402, Vote 500).

It's no wonder. Anne Northup has received more than $300,000 in political contributions from Big Oil interests.

Chris Thieneman will NOT accept a dime from Big Oil, and will fight to bring gas prices down by standing up to Big Oil.

Chris Thieneman is running in the Republican Primary for the U.S. Congress' 3rd District. The primary election is May 20.
