A Lexington Herald-Leader/WKYT-TV poll has found a majority of Kentuckians favor raising the cigarette tax by 70 cents a pack. This is no surprise since the majority of Kentuckians don't smoke and don't care how much cigarettes cost. But coupled with polls showing 80% of Kentuckians favor a vote on casino gambling, it appears Kentucky state lawmakers, particularly republicans, are out of step with their constituents on these two topics.
