My take on the ad is that Lunsford is sticking to the old political axiom that you never take a punch without throwing one back. Either that or Lunsford's internal polls are alot different than the two recent independent polls which show he's nearly 20 points ahead of Fischer with little more than a week to go in the primary campaign. Assuming Lunsford wins the primary next Tuesday, Mitch McConnell will start trying to make the race a referendum on Lunsford, not himself, by keeping Lunsford on his heels. It appears from the response of the Lunsford folks to what appears to be an unsuccessful negative campaign by Fischer, that McConnell might be able to do just that.
