Looks Like Lunsford vs. McConnell

Greg Fischer hasn't cut into Bruce Lunsford's lead in the past week, still trailing Lunsford by 18 points headed into the final week of the campaign. That's what the latest WHAS 11/Survey USA poll shows.

The polling shows Fischer has gained some support from Kentucky democrats who are 65 years old or older. But Lunsford has maintained his big lead with virtually every other age group in every area of the state. In what may be a bit of a surprise, Fischer has been unable to generate much support from the one place where a few people know him.....the Louisville area.

A Lexington Herald-Leader/WKYT-TV poll shows Lunsford ahead by 20. It's all over but the shouting in the democratic primary. I'm sure Lunsford's folks have already dusted off every piece of video and picture they can find with McConnell standing next to George W. Bush and saying what a great guy he is. Just a few days ago, WHAS 11 Assignment Director Steve Duncan stumbled across some video from 1988 showing a young McConnell and an even younger looking George W. Bush at a news conference with the late congressman Gene Snyder. The three of them were together, in Louisville, pitching the presidential candidacy of Bush's father, George H.W. Bush, who won that election. It was pretty funny video that might come in handy for one of my stories during the general election campaign.

I dunno about this. If turnout is high, with so many undecideds, who knows, the established candidate doesn't seem to have the statewide recognition to fall back on to scoop up the undecideds.

Mark put this down as a promise - Between the 4th Congressional and the 1st Congressional McConnell with win with a double-digit percentage!
