Is Hillary Angling For Veep?

ABC's George Stephanopoulos is speculating that Hillary Clinton is staying in the race for president to try and wiggle her way onto Barack Obama's ticket.

But Clinton campaign chairman Terry McAuliffe told Kentucky reporters today that Clinton isn't even talking about the number two job while she's running for president. When I pressed him, McAuliffe did say that he thinks "it would be a spectacular dynamic" to have Obama and Clinton on the same ticket. But McAuliffe says he knows for a fact that the two candidates haven't discussed that scenario and neither have key staff members in each campaign. McAuliffe says it will be totally up to the democratic nominee to decide who they want as vice president.

McAuliffe also told Kentucky journalists that Kentucky is a very important state for the Clinton campaign. Not only must Clinton win Kentucky, which she is expected to do, McAuliffe says she needs a big turnout in Kentucky and West Virginia to give her a chance of overtaking Obama in total popular vote count. McAuliffe says he expects Clinton to beat Obama in the total popular vote, giving her a solid argument that she should be the party's nominee. He expects the three members of the Clinton family to make several visits to the Bluegrass State over the next several days.
