There's a good piece by Linda Blackford in today's H-L that discusses Barack Obama's chances of connecting with Kentucky's rural, white voters before election day. The consensus seems to be that Obama might be able to overcome the racism, rumors and perceived elitism about himself if he'd spend some time in Appalachia and, in my opinion, western Kentucky. 1 CommentsLeave a comment |

Voters that do not choose to vote for Barrack Obama could , very well, base their decisions on innuendos and non truths. For anyone to believe that Senator Obama is a practicing, beliveing MUSLIM is just off frequency.
First of all . . . the actions of the President, in times of war or terrorist action is based upon appealing to the Congress for permission to retaliate. That is the oversight built into our
CONSTITUTION. (I admit Congress and the Senate lacked oversight in the George Bush vs Iraq for control of the oil and the pipeline that will spread across Afganistan.
To believe otherwise . . . could indicate those that object to Senator Obama, for whatever reason, do not understand the structure of OVERSIGHT BUILT INTO OUR CONSTITUTION. (The roots of PREJUDICE are embryos of IGNORANCE.)
To vote against Obama for remarks made by his former minister is another FEAR TACTIC. The same minister council with Bill Clinton when he was on his knees . . . hoping . . .(praying) not to be impeached. Is that a double standard?
I have watched this YOUNG MAN since the start of his campaign. Nothing he has uttered bothers me a great deal. To say he is class conscious is another exaggeration meant to favor the FEAR FACTOR.
The claim that the GOP candidate is more experienced, in foreign policy, is a ploy to attempt to discredit the Senator from Chicago.
The Congress dictates the extent of our Foreign Policy. (And they did a damn poor job with George W. If ever a President and staff members should be impeached . . . it is George W. Bush and Condo Rice and Dick Chaney.
In Kentucky- the charge from Senator Clinton- was lead by the same old, same old clan that has improperly guided our Democratic Party for many years. And, corruption in the General Assembly is well documented over the years. And yet, we keep electing the same crippled, shallow thinking Representatives and Senators back to the General Assembly each year.
If voters care about THE FUTURE then both the D' and the R's should ask themselves what is that is making so many change their registration from D or R to INDEPENDENT?
If you look at the demographics of Kentucky registered voters you will see there has been a "ground swell" of voters changing to INDEPENDENT.
What is it about the major parties that command the conscious of registered voters to become INDEPENDENT?
Both the D's and R's should be asking themselves this question. And, if they can't find the reason, just go back and look at the body of work by our General Assembly over the years.
"I just wanna say!"
