Beshear's Approval Rating Hitting Fletcheresque Lows

Wow. Has the honeymoon ended quickly for Steve Beshear. He needed the family vacation this week. Beshear's job approval rating is 40%, according to the Lexington Herald-Leader/WKYT-TV poll. That number backs up the 38% job approval rating Beshear received in last month's Survey USA/WHAS11 poll.

The question for Beshear is this: Do you realize you've got a problem or are you burying your head in the sand as most in the Fletcher administration did? Continuing to pick on David Williams instead of trying to play peacemaker and get something done probably isn't the best strategy for turning the tide of public opinion in your favor.

No Mark, they play by different rules!! Don't you remember? That's how it's always been. There is no Grand Jury indictment for Paul Patton's nursing home ordeal or Steve Henry's Medicare problems. KDP and their cronies make and change the rules as they go. Mark, you should know this by now!

I think the problem is that people expected needed change and they haven't gotten it - yet. State government is still operating (?) in the Republican style and mold Fletcher instituted (top-down management, neglect and disdain for career employees who still have no voice or apparent value to this administration, particularly in a couple of large agencies), far, far too many Fletcher appointees are still calling the shots and actively working to sabotage the current administration and, frankly, Beshear has made a couple of really badly advised, nonproductive high-level appointments in agencies that get almost daily bad press - deservedly so, but unnecessarily so given the opportunity for visionary leader who care and understand about the issues at hand and could make the no-brainer changes needed. I hear a lot of discouragement, bitterness and disappointment among strong Beshear supporters who expected more and certainly expected better.
