Hillary Headlining KDP Fundraiser

6:14 PM Mon, Apr 28, 2008 |

Hillary Clinton will be in Louisville next month to headline a fundraiser for the Kentucky Democratic Party. Clinton will be joining Gov. Steve Beshear, who is one of the hosts of the event.

But Beshear's spokeswoman, Vicki Glass, says this is not an indication that Beshear has decided that he's supporting Clinton in the democratic primary for President. Beshear is an uncommitted superdelegate who's been courted by both Clinton and Obama. Beshear told me last week that he plans to remain uncommitted until after Kentucky's May primary. But that may be an easy way for him to support Hillary Clinton without saying so and ticking off Barack Obama supporters, including his own Chief of Staff, Jim Cauley. Clinton is almost certain to win Kentucky. She's leading by more than a 2:1 margin among Democrats who say they plan to vote in the Kentucky primary.

Here's the release from KDP about the fundraiser:

Clinton to Headline Kentucky Democratic Party Fundraiser
Obama Possible as Co-Headliner

Louisville, April 28, 2008--Senator Hillary Clinton will join Governor Steve Beshear, Lieutenant Governor Daniel Mongiardo, Democratic Party Chair Jennifer Moore and Vice-Chair Nathan Smith for a Kentucky Democratic Party (KDP) fundraiser at the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville, Friday, May 9. Senator Barack Obama has also been invited to the event as well as other Democratic Party dignitaries.

"This is a great opportunity for Democrats in Kentucky to hear directly from the candidates," said Moore. "With so much at stake for our country in this election, it's gratifying that Kentucky's primary will be such an important part of the process."

Tickets for the event start at $50 and can be purchased through the KDP by calling 502-695-4828.
