Kentucky Congressman Ben Chandler is announcing his support for Barack Obama, joining Congressman John Yarmuth as democratic superdelegates who plan to vote for Obama at the Democratic Convention. Chandler's support for Obama would appear to be a bit of a political risk since Hillary Clinton is leading Obama by a 2 to 1 margin among democrats in Kentucky and in Chandler's sixth congressional district. Kentucky will have nine superdelegates at the Democratic Convention. Two are supporting Obama, three favor Hillary Clinton while the remaining four are uncommitted. I'll write more this afternoon on Chandler's support for Obama as well as a new WHAS11/Survey USA poll on the democratic presidential race in Kentucky. |
