The Carpenters and Millwrights Union announced its support for Lunsford today. Here's part of the release from Lunsford's campaign:

LOUISVILLE - Standing among dozens of members of the Indiana Kentucky Regional Council of Carpenters and Millwrights at their Louisville Headquarters, Executive Secretary-Treasurer David Tharp today announced the union's endorsement of Democrat Bruce Lunsford's campaign for United States Senate.

"This year, the Kentucky race for U.S. Senate is all about supporting a candidate who will stand up and change the way we do business in Washington. We are confident Bruce Lunsford is the candidate that is committed to real change and will work to support policies that will advance the quality of life for our members and working families across Kentucky. That is why we enthusiastically endorse Bruce Lunsford for U.S. Senate and why our members will work to ensure his success in this election," Tharp said.

But one of Lunsford's democratic opponents, Greg Fischer told me and Greg Stotelmyer (WTVQ-TV) that he has alot of union backing himself and that folks who understand politics are looking for someone other than Lunsford to support because they don't believe Lunsford can defeat Mitch McConnell in the fall. I hope to catch up with Lunsford in the next couple of days to get his reaction to some of the other comments made by Fischer, which you'll be seeing on WHAS-TV.
