| More On State Budget Compromise UPDATED »
The House-Senate budget conference committee has finally hammered out a compromise state budget. Here's the stories posted on-line by the Lexington Herald-Leader and C-J but I may have a few more details below. Besides the cash they expect to get from restructuring the state's debt and squeezing the Kentucky Lottery, I reported last night at 6 that lawmakers were also looking at a proposal to take $20 million/yr. in tobacco settlement money, $20 million in transfers from state agencies and $13 million from increased court fees. By the time you read this, there may be more details emerging on whether the conference committee approved any of these funding sources for the executive budget or looked somewhere else for cash. |
