Corley Everett had talked about dropping out of the 3rd District republican primary race and supporting fellow long shot Chris Thieneman. But Everett says he's not quitting the race that Anne Northup is expected to win. Here's the e-mail Everett sent me: Under no circumstances will I be withdrawing from this primary race for any GOP candidate. I have given this considerable thought and I have had in no way a satisfactory explanation from any other Republican outlining their plans and issues for this election. In fact, this race seems a two person contest between nostalgia on one hand and monumental ego on the other. Neither has, in any way, a clue on the transformative nature of the election year and the existential threat to the conservative point of view. Perhaps I am just a small factor and perhaps not. However, unlike the two others, I have been consistant...I have never said, like Northup, that I wasn't running and then to be treated with the Erwin Roberts fake campaign; and unlike Thieneman, well, we really don't need to go through ALL of that! I have at least a little sense of self respect and I actually do care about the issues and am frankly insulted that the choices would boil down to two millionaires who are plugged into the Catholic community and really could care less about anyone else. I'm sorry but there's my point of view. I'm staying in this race. By the way, I'll bet you lunch at Ollie'sTrolley that neither Northup or Thienman will go to the KET primary debate. Just a hunch.......... |
