Senate Gets Ready to Pass Beshear's Original Budget

You can write this one down: The state senate is about to pass a state budget that looks an awful lot like the original budget plan proposed by Gov. Steve Beshear.

Senate President David Williams has laid out some basic principals of the budget plan the senate leaders will role out from behind closed doors later this week. And it sounds like Beshear's original, "no tax hike" plan with a some tweaking. If they do that, it would put Beshear in the awkward position of having to rail against his own budget plan. We'll find out later this week. But let's hope the Senate does better than the House and unveils its budget plan a few days before a vote so folks have a chance to study what's in it before there's a vote.
