Al Westerman of the KDOW says the testing will cost $340,000 and is being funded by the federal government. The tests will come on the heels of an AP study which found several water systems, including Louisville's, have trace amounts of pharmaceuticals in them. It's unclear what long term effect those trace amounts of drugs will have on humans. Here's the story I did tonight.

CORRECTION: Allison Fleck of the Division of Water says the total amount available for all water quality monitoring projects is $340,000. The amount of the proposed project to test STREAMS for pharmaceuticals is $36,000. Fleck says the KDOW does not plan to test water coming out of faucets all over Kentucky.
