One Fabrication, One Good Find From Brett Hall

Mark Hebert

Many of you know that Governor Fletcher's former press secretary, Brett Hall runs a blog called KyPolitics.org. Occasionally he comes up with some good stuff. Occasionally he just makes up stuff. This was one of those days he did both.

First the made up stuff. Hall reports that Gov. Beshear rode a state aircraft to Florida and back today. That didn't seem right to me since I knew Beshear was in the governor's office early this morning and his car was parked in the governor's parking spot all day. Turns out, a state plane did fly to Florida today, to bring an inmate back to Kentucky, according to Beshear's spokesman Dick Brown.

Now the legitimate stuff: Hall has done yeoman's work, perhaps with some help from allies of certain republican U.S. Senator, in tracking down documents from Bruce Lunsford's purchase of a home in Arizona. According to Hall, records show Lunsford listed Chicago as his home address on some of the paperwork. The Vencor founder may some residency questions to answer.

Making stuff up, Mark? Kinda like you accusing House Dems of extorting bribes from the tracks?

Tsk. Tsk. Pot calling the kettle black.

Brett Hall posted this "story" on his blog. When Mark Hebert calls him on it, what does
he do? Does he immediately retract the story and issue an apology? No, he removes the
story from his site, that's it. No retraction. No apology. He just removes the story
and hopes no one will notice. This is not the actions of a professional or an adult, more
that of an errant child. Also, should anyone call for a retraction or apology on his blog,
he removes that from the blog.

My question is does the Republican Party, especially the Republican Party of Kentucky
want to be represented in this way? If they do, I think it says a great deal about their
morals and the content of their character.

Brett, be a man and a professional, print a retraction and issue an apology.
