House Leaders Meet Gov, KEEP Circling the Wagons
Governor Beshear is meeting with House Democratic leaders at 7 tonight in his office. Apparently the governor will be urging the democratic leaders to get their act together and agree on one casino bill.
And tomorrow morning, there will be more discussion of the casino bill with horse industry folks being encouraged to tow their horse trailers up Capitol Avenue as a way of showing their political muscle. Here's the e-mail that went to horse industry folks from KEEP:
Dear Horse Friends and Supporters,
On Tuesday February 26 th , Supporters of Kentucky’s Horse Industry will gather in Frankfort for a show of support for the industry.
There will be three chances to participate and show your support. The committee meeting hearing HB 550 will meet at 8:30 AM in Capital Annex room 171 . We need to PACK this room with horse people. This is you! So please be there by 7:30 am to make sure we get everyone in. AGAIN Capital Annex Room 171!
Next immediately following the committee meeting (approx. 10:00 AM) we will meet in Capital Annex room 125 to organize “talk to the legislators”. There you will be given information and instructions on how to immediately visit your legislator’s office.
In conjunction with “talk to your legislators” we have organized Horse Trailers to Frankfort . We ask anyone who can, bring their trailers and meet us at the Big Lots parking lot (on US 127 just past Dairy Queen on the right) beginning at 8:30 AM. At approximately 9:00 am we will travel north on HWY 127 past the Hotel and Convention Center on to Ann Street , taking a right. We will then take a left and an immediate right onto CAPITAL AVENUE . Where we will travel around the capital and loop back around ending back where we began.
From there a shuttle will be provided to take anyone who would like to go back to the capital to participate in “Talk to the Legislators”
Please let us know if you would like to participate in any or all of the activities on Tuesday. Especially if you would like to bring your trailer. We need an accurate count as soon as possible to make arrangements.
