Mitch McConnell has a challenger in the republican primary. Daniel Essek filed his papers in Frankfort today. Essek lists Williamsburg as his home address but if you want to send him a donation, you'll be sending it to a P.O. Box in Tennessee. Go figure. Make sure and check out the earlier posting about the woman who filmed her daughter chasing down Mitch McConnell getting fired from her job. Here's Essek's web site and some of his announcement. You may find some of it rather amusing but at least he says what he's for and against. On this snowy day in Frankfort, Kentucky, Daniel Essek braves the weather, snow and ice to climb the steps of the Capitol Building today. With little fanfare, he has filed his papers, making official his bid to become United States Senator from Kentucky, in the Republican Primary on May 20, 2008, against Mr. Mitch McConnell. Mr. Essek declares his platform to be Fiscal Responsibility, Security for the Nation, and the Preservation of the Union. He directs us to his website at http://www.essek4senate.org where he has drafted a copy of his "Contract With Kentucky." He believes we, as a People, are in danger of losing our freedom. He has stated publicly, "We are in for some hard times, but Americans, especially Kentuckians, have a bad habit of uniting and rising to the occasion.. Mr. Essek also tells us he expects to have a mighty uphill battle and asks Kentuckians for help. He said Mr. McConnell is expected to outspend him $10 million to $1. Donations to the campaign can be made by mailing a personal check to Daniel Essek, Candidate for US Senate, PO Box 182, Jellico, TN 37762. His sincere appreciation goes to all. |
