Gov. Encouraging Lunsford To Run

Pat Crowley has my back on comments I made over the weekend on KET that folks in Governor Beshear's office have been encouraging Bruce Lunsford to run for U.S. Senate. Lunsford hasn't returned any of my phone calls in the past week. But in a conversation last summer, shortly after his defeat in the gubernatorial primary race, Lunsford told me he couldn't see himself taking on McConnell, believing the Senate Minority Leader would be too tough to beat. That said, Lunsford also told me he'd "never say never." I can see Bruce Lunsford cutting the deals necessary just to get one of his bills heard in a senate committee. I can also see the hard charging businessman getting extremely frustrated with the inaction and lack of political will in Washington, D.C.

Crowley was smarter than the rest of us and asked Beshear the obvious question in an interview today, getting the governor to confirm that he's encouraging the Louisville businessman to run for Mitch McConnell's seat.

Pitiful, simply pitiful. I would love to know what makes Governor Beshear believe that a man like Bruce Lunsford, who has never gotten more than 21 percent of the vote in two state wide races, could defeat McConnell? This is a man who has spent over 10 million dollars too. When will people understand that money doesnt buy elections. Kentuckians deserve better.
Sure Lunsford has money, but that is all he has going for him. He does not have passion or ideas. He does not have anyone who will work hard for him without recieving a paycheck. If he cannot the heat from Chandler, imagine the heat he would get from McConnell?
Why would this Governor encourage Lunsford to run when he has already given to McConnells 2008 Victory Fund, and given over $47,000 to republicans such as George W Bush, McConnell, Jim Bunning, Anne Northup, Bob Dole and Trey Greyson?
It sure sounds like to me that Beshear wants McConnell to have another 2002 race like he did with Sara Combs. I smell a stinky fish coming out of Frankfort. Beshear should be ashamed. There are alot of Dems who would never vote for Lunsford. Alot are going to be very angry that Beshear feels the need in encourage Lunsford into a race. I for one wont forget this type of questionable tactics.
If I had to vote between a real republican and a fake republican, i would vote for the real republican. At least McConnell has the guts to say what he really believes and I respect that more than I do someone who is full of_ _ _ _.
The question that needs to be ask is what is Beshears motivation in this. Obviously it is not for a democrat in the Senate in 2009. I would love to know what is honestly behind this move. Call him at 502 564-2611 and tell them what you think. Ask for Lindy.

What a joke. No wonder 19 percent of Jefferson Countians vote in primaries. Beshear is a real disappointment. My vision of Kentucky obviously is different than his.
