The N.Y. Times has a story today that is no joke about Kentuckians. It describes how one in 10 Kentuckians literally have no teeth and how we don't care about our dental care. 3 CommentsLeave a comment |

Wheres the money for the children?
If one had open access to all of the PORK PROJECTS brought to various counties, across the state, you would quickly see there would be plenty of money for children's health care, especially their teeth.
Each session, the members of our General Assembly, trade votes for allocations that they want, (not need) for their district. This plays well, with the uninformed citizens of the district. Many, many do not know the financial condition of their county, so a big remodeling job, for COUNTY COURT HOUSE, looks good, lots of jobs, a new facade and it is a PUBLIC PROJECT, so citizens perhaps see this a good thing for their district.
Many millions of tax dollars could have been saved in the process of allocating money as the process should based on NEED rather than WANT and image building.
I bet if you ask a Legislator how much money was spent, in their county, on Children's Health Care, they would not know. But ask about the PORK and they know all their is needed to know in order to transmit the perception that we are doing this for the citizens. That's just plain bullshit.
If the members of the General Assembly actual knew what the REAL NEEDS and not WANTS of their district, perhaps then they could make a more intelligent decision as to how our tax payer money is spent.
This is not limited to County Court Houses, but many, many other projects that are IMAGE BUILDING are included.
And the thing about it is. It won't get better until the voters demand their members of the General Assembly properly prioritize those needs of the county. Items like DENTAL CARE, fall by the way side, because they are not image building projects that promote praise and are not not shiny and new for the public to see.
Misguided would be a good word.
I just wanna say

This may help some.
I can sum this up by saying that corporate health industry lobbyists, swarming Capitol Hill at a ratio of 1 plus per each member of Congress, should accept much of the greedy blame for the decline in dental care nationally. Dental insurance is impractical, at best, and a scam as most dental policies only cover teeth cleaning and some Xrays, and no restorative work. People can now barely afford to keep their homes and buy gas to drive to work, let alone try to pay for dental or ANY healthcare. Wake up people and quit re electing greedy politicians who take campaign contributions from these corporate healthcare lobbyists.
