Tidbits UPDATED

Here are some tidbits from the last few days of the campaign trail:

Governor Fletcher's campaign bus required a wrecker service yesterday when it went off highway 150 in Stanford. The minor wreck happened in front of a shopping center. But it took a little time to find a wrecker to get the bus back up the road, according to one observer.

UPDATE: A Fletcher campaign staffer says the campaign bus never wrecked or veered off the highway during the Saturday tour. I have some cell phone camera shots which appear to show a bus with FLETCHER on its side off the roadway. It's possible the bus wasn't Fletcher's campaign bus but a private citizen driving around with a FLETCHER sign on the side.

UPDATE #2: Fletcher may not be the only one having tour bus problems. According to Joe Gerth's column in the C-J on Monday morning, the Beshear bus broke down and had to be towed.

U of L basketball coach Rick Pitino has again recorded pre-election day automated phone calls on behalf of former U.K. basketball player Richie Farmer. Farmer is running for reelection as state Agriculture Commissioner. My bet is that the Pitino calls are only going to voters in the Louisville area. I suspect calls to voters in eastern and western Kentucky might be met with a hang up and "honey, traitor Rick just called us, wanting us to vote for Richie!"

I think Survey USA may have another poll on the governor's race out tomorrow. I'm not sure about that one but it's a possibility. I'll be on the campaign trail with Beshear in the morning so you'll have to rely on our web guru, Jay Ditzer, to get you the numbers. If we have them in the morning, they'll be part of our noon newscast.

Mark, you're a great reporter but that is old news.
Some of us think Governor Fletcher's campaign bus went off the road the day he issued the pardons.

Anonymous- That was funny, and very true.

I have an acquaintance in Richie Farmer's office. They are very concerned that straight ticket voting in Louisville will hurt Richie. That is why they have bought TV and are using Pitino. If D.L. Williams gets in, the legislature will likely strip the Ag Commish of all power.

Maybe the legislature should strip the Agriculture Commissioner of all power regardless of who wins the office.

I'd love to see a constitutional amendment on the ballot to abolish that office.
