Hindman plans on staying under Beshear

Kentucky Economic Development Secretary John Hindman has been on the job about six months, but has a five year contract.

Hindman was appointed by Gov. Ernie Fletcher in June, but the post is considered apolitical and Hindman plans on continuing to serve under Governor-elect Steve Beshear. Hindman took the KY post after retiring from a 30 year career with UPS.

Why is this news? Did Beshear try to politicize this office by meddling with the Secretary?

Settle down. I just asked Hindman what his plans were. No breaking news here, just a tidbit I thought the blogosphere would appreciate.

Would it be a shock if I told you that Economic Development is and has been politicized? Along with ever expanding Legislative Research Commission, Economic Development is stealthy, with no light shed on its tax and incentive packages, international junkets, and a group of highly paid people who seem to be untouchable by law and media. Just who does p4p think appoints the Econ Dev board?
