With Governor Fletcher trailing Steve Beshear in the polls, I decided to see how a Beshear landslide might rank among the past 36 years of gubernatorial elections.

Here are the margins of victory, in percentages in every governor's race since 1971:

1971
Ford 51%
Emberton 44%
Chandler 4%

1975
Carroll 63%
Gable 37%

1979
Brown 59%
Nunn 41%

1983
Collins 54.5%
Bunning 44%
McCubbin 1.5%

1987
Wilkinson 64.5%
Harper 35%

1991
Jones 65%
Hopkins 35%

1995
Patton 51%
Forgy 49%

1999
Patton 61%
Martin 22%
Galbraith 15%

2003
Fletcher 55%
Chandler 45%

If you don't think the ole Louie Nunn Republicans are tough, Look @ you figures on the margins in 1971 when the most powerful Dem in our time Wendell Ford had a close race from Louie's Lt Gov. Tom Emberton, and Tom's still on the elected court of Appeals, Most all the Louie B. Nunnites that I know are for Beshear this time as well, wow, see you electiopn nite @ Capitol Plaza in Frankfort.
