Fletcher Ad Attacks Beshear

Governor Fletcher has launched what I consider to be his first "attack" TV ad of the fall campaign.

Fletcher's ad takes comments made by Steve Beshear on KET and uses them to bash Beshear on his ties to the Kentucky Central Insurance liquidation. The ad's aim is similar to ones that Sen. Mitch McConnell used against Beshear when the two squared off in the 1996 U.S. Senate race.

Poorly-produced ad. You'd think that since the Fletcherites are obviously willing to lie and distort, they would produce a good vehicle to carry the lies & distortions. This ad stinks!

Very good ad, IMO.

Re: Kentucky Central. At the very least, Beshear should rescind his comments that his work in the case was exemplary. And the HL should retract its editorial that said the same. To be sure, Stites' work in the case was suspect.

It's interesting that the RGA and Ernie Fletcher
want to make an issue of taking the 10 Comandments
out of Kentucky schools, when they don't seem to
be able to live up to them.

Accusation 1:
Steve Beshear made $21 million for legal services
regarding Kentucky Central.

The firm Mr/ Beshear was working for billed out
$21 million in legal fees to assist in the
liquidation of Kentucky Central. I guess the
Republican expect people to work for free?

Side bar: "...While 800 Kentuckians lost their
jobs and thousands lost their savings."

Very unfortunate, very true, however, Steve
Beshear and Stites & Harbison didn't have a
thing to do with the colapse of Kentucky
Central. They just help mop up the mess. None
of the policy holders lost any of their money.

Accusation 2: Steve Beshear was removed from
the case and paid $100,000 to cover it up.

Mr. Beshear was removed from the case due to
some conflict of interest concerns. He was
however, later reinstated. As to the $100,000
to "cover up" the investigation, it was
ordered to be paid by the courts and nothing
to do with a cover up.

Now folks I can live with the occasional
distortion of the truth, that is unfortunately
the nature of politics. However, this ad
definately over steps the mark.

it, and eventually they will believe it."

Time and time campaigning for a political seat hae more or a dirt-slinging race than actual policy and politics. In my opinion, if you have to resort to petty name calling and greats skewed lies that are called campaign strategies, then you have a lot to hide yourself. Why can't we expect the highest person in our states government (and those running for the seat) to act better than 3rd graders? Why don't they stick to campaigning FOR themselves instead of campaigning AGAINST someone else. That my friends would be a true sign of a moral/ethic person and a great leader. What has happened to our values?
