The biggest surprise of the campaign finance report filings so far is Steve Henry's decision to dig one million dollars out of his own pocket to give to his campaign. I never thought of Henry as a millionaire and wonder where he's found that kind of cash to loan his own campaign. Henry's report shows he's raised about $510,000 (CORRECTED NUMBER FROM EARLIER) from other contributors. That doesn't appear to be too good, considering he's the frontrunner. Henry also said he would return the money folks donated to his phantom committee that was exploring a potential U.S. senate race. Henry said he would ask those supporters to send the check back to his gubernatorial committee. Lunsford has given his campaign $3.5 million of the $4.2 million he's raised. That means he got more than $700,000 from other contributors. I know Lunsford runs around with a bunch of rich, horsey types who can easily shell out $1,000 for a friend, but the ability of a multimillionaire to raise that kind of cash is pretty impressive. Would you give money to a guy who could self-finance his campaign? Jody Richards' campaign has gotten off to a slow start and it's reflected in his fundraising. Richards has raised just $515,000 but has $332,000 leftover. Richards isn't wealthy enough to loan his campaign a big chunk of change to buy TV time. His only shot to get in the runoff is to carry W. Ky. big and hope some of the unions who've endorsed him run some independent TV ads that hurt the frontrunners and help Richards. Steve Beshear has raised a total of $1.13 million with about half of that left to spend. 3 CommentsLeave a comment |

Among Democrats Beshear raised more money and has more Cash-On Hand. This is a three way race: Lunsford, Beshear or Henry.
How much came from Stites and Harbison?
I don't understand why I cannot find more polls regarding the Governors race. The most recent Survey USA poll is a month old.
Does anyone know where we can find a more recent poll?
