Jody Richards' campaign may have gotten off to a slow start but the teachers still love him. Here's the release from Richards' camp about an endorsement from the Jefferson County Teachers Association:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Jefferson Co. Teachers' Association (JCTA) today endorsed the Jody Richards/ John Y. Brown III ticket in the Democratic gubernatorial Primary. The endorsement reflects Richards' years of support of teachers and education issues during his tenure in the Kentucky House of Representatives. "Jody Richards has been the General Assembly's leader in issues facing educators," Brent McKim, President of JCTA, said. "As Governor, Jody Richards will be the voice for education, not just in Jefferson Co., but around the state. We are proud to support him in his bid for Governor." JCTA represents 5,400 educators throughout the Louisville-Metro area. They are also a member of a group of labor unions called Change to Win – Kentucky. They join fellow Change to Win – Kentucky members Teamsters Local 783, Local 89, Local 2727 in Louisville and Local 236 in Paducah in endorsing the Richards/Brown ticket. "Second only to the parent, educators mold the children of our state and the future of our Commonwealth. I am honored to have the endorsement of the people who have dedicated their lives to education," Richards said. "Teachers provide more than knowledge to the youth of Kentucky. They provide instruction for how children should live their lives." -30- |
