David Jackson, a long time state employee who sparked controversy for his public support of Ernie Fletcher in the 2003 governor's race, has been fired. Jackson was the deputy commissioner in the Transportation Cabinet's Vehicle Regulation Division, earning about $101,500/yr. Transportation spokesman Doug Hogan tells me that Jackson's last day is today. Jackson has been a state employee for 22 years. Hogan refused to say why Jackson was fired. Jackson was a merit employee and head of the Coalition of State Employees in 2003 when he helped Fletcher's campaign by supplying the names of all merit workers who belonged to the coalition. Some folks was accused him of violating the state law banning political campaigning by merit employees. Here's the story WHAS 11 News aired at 5:30 p.m. today: HE RISKED HIS STATE MERIT JOB TO HELP ERNIE FLETCHER'S 2003 CAMPAIGN FOR GOVERNOR AND WAS REWARDED WITH A 100-THOUSAND DOLLAR A YEAR STATE JOB. 1 CommentsLeave a comment |
