One woman's attempt to have Attorney General Greg Stumbo impeached has ended. Amy Mischler may be the first citizen to ever fiind and use a little known part of Kentucky law that allows average citizens to file impeachment papers against an elected officer. She did that last year, listing a number of reasons Stumbo should be removed from office. Mischler's main beef began with her child custody case in Pike County. She believed the Pike County Attorney was biased against her and asked Stumbo to investigate. Stumbo refused, prompting Mischler, who has some paralegal training, to file the impeachment papers against him. The papers included other claims of misconduct against Stumbo and she properly filed them with the House of Representatives clerk. During the 2007 session, House leaders referred the impeachment papers to the Judiciary Committee. Committee chairman Rep. Kathy Stein (D) Lexington, told me she reviewed Mischler's allegations and didn't believe they warranted a full review by her committee or any action by the senate. This is welcome news. It's no secret that Mischler has simply been seeking an avenue to vent more vitriol against her ex-husband, and the previous report did just that. At least a third party has looked into Mischler's situation and has finally come to the conclusion that most other folks have come to: it's 'troubling.'
I think due diligence would be to report on Mischler's activities, Mr. Hebert. I think many viewers would be quite interested to see the story that ran in the Appalachian News Express wherein Mischler forced her own sick child to march around the streets of Pikeville carrying a sign defaming his own father.
