Teamsters Local 89 is endorsing the Richards-Brown ticket. Teamsters president Fred Zuckerman pointed to Richards' support for raising the state minimum wage, collective bargaining for state employees and gender equity in salaries as reasons for the union's backing. Teamsters Local 89 represents about 15,000 workers in Kentucky and Indiana, according to a news release. Normally, I don't put too much stock in endorsements but this appears to be the first real, visible sign of life for the Richards-Borwn campaign. In fairness, the House Speaker has been busy with the 2007 legislative session.
