Here's the text of a story that will be running at 5:00 tonight (March 8, 2007) on WHAS 11 News. You read it here first. WHAS 11 NEWS HAS LEARNED THAT INFORMATION ABOUT POSSIBLE FEDERAL LAW VIOLATIONS BY STEVE HENRY HAVE BEEN REFERRED TO THE U-S ATTORNEY'S OFFICE IN LOUISVILLE. HUBER WOULDN'T SAY WHAT INFORMATION HIS OFFICE HAS RECEIVED ABOUT HENRY -- BUT TELLS US IT'S BEEN REFERRED TO THE U-S JUSTICE DEPARTMENT IN WASHINGTON. More info for you blog readers: Huber says a "matter" does not imply that there's any sort of investigation going on, only that his office has received information it has agreed to look into. Also, Huber says he's in the process of personally recusing himself from any matter involving Henry because he doesn't want to be accused of playing politics. Huber used to work for Sen. Mitch McConnell. 4 CommentsLeave a comment |

Hebert, you run a political blog yet you have failed to write about the lawsuit filed against political blogger, Mark Nickolas. Yesterday a libel lawsuit was filed in Jefferson County against Mark Nickolas for writing slanderous comments about 2 individuals in 2005 and failing to delete the FALSE statements.
Mark Nickolas is a political blogger and your friend. Is your friendship with Nickolas the reason you won't write about his NEW legal troubles. We have a political blogger in this state that is being brought to court for: willful failure to pay the IRS, willful failure to pay the Ky. Treasurer, willful failure to pay a horse farm stud fees, NOW willful failure to delete and remove false slanderous comments about 2 individuals.
Umm... that is political news.
Hebert, YOU said on your blog one time that some of the political blogs in Kentucky write "inaccurate" articles. If Webster's dictionary provided "inaccurate" definitions - even once - the entire dictionary would be WORTHLESS and not even worthy enough to waste time reading.
Same goes for any and all media outlets that refuse to print the truth. If Nickolas writes articles - even one - that is INTENTIONALLY false then the entire blog is WORTHLESS because the reader would NOT be able to rely on TRUTH in print.
Nickolas was asked in 2005 to remove the false thread. He did not. He NOW claims he did remove the thread in 2005; however, the facts as of 6:00 yesterday, the thread was alive and well on BGR in 2007. Meaning, Nickolas INTENTIONALLY left a false thread up for 2 years. NOW Nickolas is INTENTIONALLY not being 100% up and up.
If a political blogger is going to break laws -- or have lawsuits filed against them for slander THAT IS NEWS.
If Nickolas was not your friend would you have posted an article?
Have YOU not posted an article to help "preserve" the few readers that Nickolas has left on his blog?
I remember in January YOU wrote concerns that Nickolas' legal troubles may cost him readers. They did.
Is THAT why you have not and probably will not write an article that Nickolas is getting sued for slander.
BTW: The slander suit is getting spread like wild fire whether you like or not ... many are scratching their heads wondering why YOU nor the HL are printing the FACT that Nickolas is getting SUED for slander.
Isn't it true that YOU and the HL are Nickolas' biggest fans?
We can see why Huber wasn't one of the US Attorneys fired by Gonzalez. He is more than willing to use his position to take political shots at opponents, holding a press conference and only after that "recusing himself."
Is this referral related to the current U. S. Attorney scam run by the White House through the Justice Department? Remember, they had hearings in Congress recently with a bunch of justices who were fired for not indicting Democrats.
Is this 'investigation' an attempt by Huber to get on the right (non-fired) side of the White House by studiously referring up matters his office isn't charged with investigating? And more important, did he get a call from McConnell telling him to do so.
Steve Henry may have met and helped individuals with their campaign efforts while he was Lt. Governor, and clearly has name recognition, but he's steeped in scandal. In case anyone has forgotten, here are a few facts:
1. Last time around, Henry bowed out of the Governor's race because he was caught over-billing Medicare and Medicaid by hundreds of thousands of dollars (He settled with the government for approximately $160,000)
2. He and his wife, a former Miss America, announced at the Young Democrats convention last year that what we need in Kentucky is a Constitutional ban on flag burning
3. His wife accidentally killed a pedestrian in a car crash and then told Oprah that if she would have followed God's advice and went shopping instead the victim would still be alive
4. Henry’s had his senate account open since 1996 AND IS FULLY AWARE that he cannot do what he's been doing with the money in that account for more than a decade
If we want to win the Governor's house, we need to put the scandal ridden Patton and Henry years behind us! The polls show that last thing the people of Kentucky want is more scandal. Imagine that! Come on Steve, do us all a favor and get out now before you cost us the mansion again!
