Booze and Billboards

8:50 PM Tue, Feb 20, 2007 |

It should be entertaining viewing in Frankfort on wednesday. There are bills to broaden the sale of alcohol in Kentucky along with the recurring bill to let billboard companies cut down vegetation that blocks the viewing of their advertisements.

In the 8 a.m. House Licensing and Occupations committee, HBs 340, 341, and 391 all deal with booze. The proposals would let non-profit groups get liquor licenses, allow the sale of booze after noon on election day and permit local option elections in precincts with state parks and lodges. It should be interesting.
The controversial billboard bill is up for a vote in the Senate Transportation.
The watered down state minimum wage bill, the gutted social workers bill and the less controversial HPV bill are all on the Orders of the Day in House.

Cutting down vegetation around billboards?
Wow, such micro management & government intereferance! If a billboard operator wants gardening rights, it's a matter to negotiate with the property owner and the terms inserted in the lease. Leave We the People out it.
