Richards/JYB Team?

House Speaker Jody Richards has "indicated he's strongly leaning toward running for governor" according to the man who may be his running mate.

John Y. Brown III says he's "exploring the possibility" of being Richards' running mate. Brown tells me he's had several discussions with Richards. There's nothing definitive, but the two democrats plan to talk over the weekend or early next week to make a final decision, according to Brown. The former Secretary of State tells WHAS 11 News he has a "very high comfort level with Jody Richards" calling him "honest and ethical". In a previous post, Richards told me he'd announce his intentions next week. A Richards/Brown ticket could be a formidable one in the growing democratic field. Though neither is an accomplished public speaker, both are viewed as men of integrity with statewide name recognition.

Brown served two terms as secretary of state and is currently a lawyer for ResCare in Louisville. He says if the Richards/Brown ticket idea caves in AND Greg Stumbo opts to run for governor, he'd definitely be interested in running for attorney general.
Brown says he'd run for attorney general even if fellow Louisvillian Jack Conway jumps in, saying there's nothing wrong with a spirited primary.

Not good news for Governor Fletcher. Hal Rogers tells WYMT-TV in Hazard he won't endorse anyone in the Republican primary election:

Great story Hebert, you are precise in stating the intergity and honesty of Jody Richards. I agree this will be a strong ticket.

I don't know about Mr.Brown, but Speaker Richards is a very accomplished speaker. He is a fantastic stump speaker. I have heard him many times in person.
