Nickolas update (Update Tues.)(wed.)

Apparently democratic blogger Mark Nickolas (BluegrassReport.org) has another legal problem to clear up.

The Frankfort State Journal is reporting that Nickolas has an outstanding theft charge pending in Fayette County. Nickolas' lawyer says the charge involves a rental car and Nickolas has paid the bill. You can find the full story at www.state-journal.com.

This charge appears headed for the archives file as Nickolas and the rental car company have agreed to have the charge dropped. But the Herald-Leader is reporting that Nickolas is also being sued for unpaid stud fees (Nickolas lives on a horse farm and is in the business).

Nickolas hasn't addressed the lawsuit on his web page but republicans and conspiracy theorists are having a field day with his mistakes.

We don't know whether all this pub about Nickolas' personal life will impact his blog. I hope it doesn't. With some Kentucky media outlets deemphasizing political coverage, blogs like Nickolas', The Kentucky Conservative Blog Network and the Bridge all have a place in providing information, albeit slanted and sometimes inaccurate information, to folks who care about Kentucky politics.

This matter was quickly cleared up by further Herald-Leader investigation. Avis was even surprised the warrant was still active. Nickolas is essentially cleared on this one.

Can anyone still doubt that there's a concerted effort to go after Mark Nickolas? Fletcher is a class act.

I pay my bills said:

Sounds like Mark has a problem pating bills. New info on the HL blog, Mark is being sued by someone for not paying. So that is 3 sets of people who Mark has been late in paying, including we the taxpayers.

I sense a pattern.....

Those who live in glass houses Mark....

can't you smell that smell? said:

Hebert,

People look at facts and form opinions. It is really unprofessional of you to denigrate or belittle people who look at ALL the facts around Nickolas and come up with the conclusion that ALL those facts added together have a rancid odor which smells of Corporate Tax Fraud.

Journalists - real journalists - have a smell for corruption - they paid to see events and make sure there is NO odd smell going on.

1. No one forced Mark Nickolas to lie to his donors with his false & illegal claim of being a (c)4. Mark Nickolas (public figure) willfully lied to the donors on his blog.

2. No one forced Mark Nickolas to illegally use tax exempt funds to pay his personal expenses.

3. No one forced Mark Nickolas to raise money on a political website just to funnel that money into a "bogus" tax exempt Corporation. Theft By Deception????

4. No one forced Mark Nickolas to cheat the tax system for 1.5 years by not paying into it b/c of his "bogus" tax exempt corporation.

5. Why don't you use your reporter's skill and add up how much Nickolas has cheated the system by not paying into for 1.5 years.

Look, when anybody, no matter who they are, commit a crime it is EVERYONE'S business because NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW.

Reporters aren't fooling their readers. There is a odor and it's rancid. Usually where there is an odor there is a reason for the odor.

For the life me I can't figure out why you boys in the media refuse to acknowledge a smell. I just wish one of you all would be honest enough to write and tell your readers, who obviously have better noses than you boys, that the real reason you won't write a story or look to see where that smell is coming from is because you are friends with Miller and with Nickolas and their friendship is more important than seeking the truth. And since they may be guilty of a crime or conspiracy to defraud taxpayers you boys in the media think they ARE ABOVE THE LAW. You all look really, really ridiculous right now.
