Latest on Gov's race

All of you who are trying to keep up with the democrats exercise in picking candidates for governor, need to watch the story I did on Thursday night. You can find it at: politics page. You'll be able to see most of my raw interviews with Steve Henry and Brereton Jones by Monday morning.

In that story you'll see Brereton Jones at the KACo Convention in Louisville. As he's shaking hands, one county judge-executive says "I hope you're getting in this thing!" Jones responds, "I think I am". Jones was sure acting like a candidate but denied that any decision had been made. When asked why he would be at a KACo convention if he weren't running for governor, Jones responded "because I've got alot of friends here". According to a couple of county officials, Jones rarely showed up for his own Local Issues Conference when he was governor. But several county officials told Jones they'd be for him if he ran.
Later in the afternoon, Jones met with Louisville attorney Jack Conway. Conway says the two agreed to have lunch next week to discuss the governor's race. Conway says Jones did not ask him to be a running mate and Conway says he's still considering a race for governor himself.

You'll also see in my story a short clip with Steve Henry. He is running for governor. When asked if he'd back out of the race if Jones jumped in, Henry said "no", adding "he will go down as one of the worst governors we've ever had in Kentucky". Henry also says his wife, Heather French-Henry, will have a $1 per year job as a cabinet secretary in his administration. French-Henry will presumably be the Military Affairs Secretary, a new post. Again, you can find that story on our website
