Stengel hosts fundraiser for Roach. Hacker hosts fundraiser for Worley. What's going on here? The list of "Platinum" sponsors for a Sept. 12th Roach for Supreme Court fundraiser in Louisville includes the name R. David Stengel. That's Jefferson County Commonwealth's Attorney and die hard Democrat Dave Stengel. So what's he doing as one of the top five sponsors of a fundraiser for John Roach, Frankfort Republican and former general counsel for Governor Fletcher? Well, the Kentucky Commonwealth's Attorney Association's PAC has endorsed Roach, over his opponent, Judge Mary Noble of Lexington. So when Stengel got a call from a Roach supporter, asking if he'd co-host a fundraiser, Stengel said "yes". Stengel tells me he doesn't know Roach really well and doesn't know Noble at all. Some of the other co-hosts of the fundraiser are a little more obvious: Fletcher attornies Steve Itt, Kent Westberry and Sheryl Snyder; Fletcher administration backers John McCarthy and Riggs Lewis and Fletcher appointee Louis Waterman. There was a similar head scratcher in a State Senate race where former voice of the Wildcats Ralph Hacker helped Democratic Sen. Ed Worley raise money for his reelection bid. Hacker is a Republican who's served in the Fletcher administration. Not sure what that's about though Hacker is a bit of a switch hitter.....he was appointed to the lottery board by the late Wallace Wilkinson who was a Democrat. 1 CommentsLeave a comment |
