There's apparently a serious, or jolly jokester attempt to draft Lonnie Napier to run for Governor in 2007. That's right, a web site to draft the Republican House Member from Garrard County into the 2007 Governor's race is under construction. A Republican friend pointed it out to me. Napier tells me he doesn't know who's trying to draft him as a candidate. He found out about the web site from a friend in western kentucky. Napier says folks have urged him to run for governor but he hasn't given it much thought. Napier has been mentioned as a possible running mate for other gubernatorial hopefuls but never as a candidate for Governor. Few people outside Frankfort and his home district know who he is. He's one of the most conservative and quotable Republican members of the House, giving his blunt opinions about gays, guns, abortion and other hot button issues. 14 CommentsLeave a comment |

I don't know. It looks like the comments on the webpage show he is pretty well known throughout the state. "Lonnie" as he is known to his supporters would be for the people, for a change!
Don't doubt Lonnie Napier.
He has been metioned as a possible running mate for other gubernatorial hopefuls but few people outside of Frankfort or his district know who he is?
There must be a reason why other gubernatorial hopefuls have considered Napier. The fact is, during his 20+ years in the Legislature, Napier has created a network of friends across this Commonwealth. Furthermore, he has made statewide news several times with his ardent support of conservative and populist issues. He is better known that you think, and the proof of that is that other candidates have considered him as a running mate.
I did. I wish I hadn't've.
Napier might run as a symbol for those Republicans who feel betrayed by the false conservatives found in today's state and national republican party.
I am from Madison County, a Democrat, and a proud supporter of Lonnie Napier for Governor. Lonnie has been a terrific representative for the people of central Kentucky and treats everyone has his family member. Lonnie has done a lot for the 36th District, of which I live, and would proudly vote for him as our next Governor. Lonnie is the only candidate as a potential gubernatorial candidate that really understands the people and their needs. Do I need to say more?
Praise God for you Lonnie
A Peppy Martin for the new Millennium!
The Republican slate for 2007 after the deals are made----
Pence/Napier--Gov/Lt Gov
David Williams--Attorney General
Trey Grayson--Secretary of State
Katie Stine--Treasurer
Scott Crosbie--State Auditor
Richie Farmer--Agriculture Commissioner
Pence wouldn't run with Napier. Napier was pretty rough on him for leaving the Governor "in the heat of battle"
Lonnie has just received the endorsement from the chairman of the Rowan County (Morehead) Republican Party. I guess he is known outside of his district. (Morehead is probably 2 hours from Lancaster)
"Napier might run as a symbol for those Republicans who feel betrayed by the false conservatives found in today's state and national republican party."
That's ridiculous, given that Lonnie Napier is a strong, open supporter of illegal immigration: http://are.berkeley.edu/APMP/pubs/i9news/slams31400.html
Go Lonnie From: Bourbon County
I believe that this site is the work of a jolly jokester. Having worked throughout Kentucky and made many political friendships through Kentucky and Federal governments, I can not find the support for Lonnie as this website so offers. Most people, doesn't consider him a vital candidate and some hasn't even even heard of him. Most people actually chuckle when his name is mentioned. Being from Lancaster, I have seen a very viable commuity become a virtual ghost town. That small community needs sronger leadership. Now that it is December, where is his name is Republican hopefuls. Again, propoganda at its best.
