Yarmuth Campaign Manager Out

11:10 PM Mon, Jun 26, 2006 |
Mark Hebert

There's a shake up at the top of the Yarmuth for Congress campaign.

Dan Borsch has left as John Yarmuth's campaign manager, effective June 16th. A Yarmuth campaign worker, Aaron Horner, says Borsch's resignation was not the result of any campaign infighting, but a "natural progression". Horner says Yarmuth is looking for a new campaign manager with experience in other national races..."looking for someone to take the campaign to the next level" is the way he put it. Horner compares the change at the top of the campaign staff to the change made by Ben Chandler during his 2003 race for Governor. Chandler had Mark Riddle as a campaign manager then switched to Mark Nickolas, who had more experience in other state's big-time races, to come to Kentucky after the primary.
Borsch lives in Louisville and will still be involved in Yarmuth's campaign against incumbent Republican Anne Northup, according to Horner.
That's the official story. But there had been reports of bickering between Yarmuth and his top campaign staffers during the primary. We'll see if the new man or woman, can steer Yarmuth's uphill campaign against a well-funded foe who has gobs of written material to use against the former LEO newspaper publisher.

John's hired the guy who ran the write-in campaign in Ohio.
